Professor Jonathan Chick

Jonathan Chick graduated from Cambridge University in Natural Science with Psychology, and in Medicine at Edinburgh University. He worked for the Medical Research Council for Epidemiological Studies in Psychiatry before taking a post as Consultant Psychiatrist at the Alcohol Problems Service, Royal Edinburgh Hospital, and Senior Lecturer, Department of Psychiatry University of Edinburgh. His research into treatment effectiveness has included interventions for those with alcohol problems in the acute medical services, community alcohol detoxification, and treatments to help prevent relapse in alcohol dependence. Currently, as Honorary Professor, School of Health Sciences, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, his main research interest is the evaluation of the health effects of legislating a minimum price per unit of alcohol.He has been an advisor to the World Health Organisation and government departments in Australia, Canada, USA and Brazil. He is the Chief Editor of the international journal Alcohol and Alcoholism
