The policy and regulatory framework pertaining to the development and management of the night-time economy, and alcohol related anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder, is complex and shared across government departments on a national level, but also sees a shared responsibility within each local authority, through Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships.
In the section, we provide information on the principal policy framework that is the National Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy, and the Licensing Act 2003. We also provide information on other legislation overlapping the night-time economy remit, such as the Crime and Disorder Act, the Anti Social Behaviour Act and the Violent Crime Bill.
Our aim, here, is to give readers an overview of the framework, rather than an in depth discussion or analysis.
