Alcohol, Addiction and Christian Ethics

Christopher C. H. Cook
University of Durham

Academic perspectives on addictive behaviour usually come from clinical and scientific standpoints, with the ‘moral model’ rejected as outmoded. In this book Chris Cook reassesses the nature of addiction and considers the ethical challenges presented by alcohol use and misuse to both individuals and society. In contrast to many of his contemporaries, Cook engages with both scientific and theological thinking, arguing that theology should not be excluded from serious discourse about addiction and that the nature of addiction should be of concern to us all.
