Dr Alison Giles is interim chief executive of the Institute of Alcohol Studies. Before joining IAS, Alison was associate director for healthy ageing in a joint role between the Centre for Ageing Better and Public Health England, and prior to that was interim chief executive at the UK Health Forum.
Her career has centred on the development of evidence-based policy to prevent non-communicable disease and reduce health inequalities.
Alison has a Doctorate in Environmental Carcinogenesis awarded by the University of London, and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Birmingham. She is a board member of Breast Cancer UK, the only UK charity focused on the primary prevention of breast cancer.
