Michael Carr

Michael Carr, chairman of the Institute of Alcohol Studies, is currently chairman of a large NHS Foundation Trust Hospital in the north west of England.

This follows upon a long career of senior management posts in higher education, including the registrar of the University of Liverpool from 1990 to 2004 and the inaugural director General of the Russell Group of Universities until 2007.

His commitment to the Institute of Alcohol Studies builds upon that of his father, Douglas Carr, who was a founding member of the Institute and a lifelong member of the Temperance Movement.
