Want to know more about your drinking habits?

The AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) is a short, evidence-based questionnaire developed by the World Health Organization and widely used in the NHS.

It doesn’t just ask how much you drink – it also checks your drinking patterns.

The AUDIT helps identify if your drinking is low risk, increasing risk, higher risk, or possibly dependent, so you can make informed choices about your health.

Try the test below:

The Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) is a screening tool to help identify alcohol-related problems. Please answer all questions honestly.

Understanding drinking risk

“Risk” means the chance that alcohol could harm your health – in the short term (like accidents or injuries) or long term (such as liver disease, heart problems, or cancer).

Everyone’s risk is different. It depends on things like how much and how often you drink, your body size, age, sex, health, and whether you take any medication.

The CMO guidelines give a useful rule of thumb:

  • Keep to 14 units or less per week.
  • Spread your drinks over three or more days.
  • Have some alcohol-free days each week.

Even within these limits, some risk remains – but the less you drink, the lower the risk.
