IAS signs open letter to MPs on alcohol pricing

7th February 2012

IAS has joined leading health groups in writing an open letter to MPs, calling them to support firmer pricing policies for alcohol. The letter is published in support of Dr Sarah Wollaston MP, who today will lead a debate in Westminster Hall on the forthcoming strategy.

Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have all made a commitment to introduce minimum price per unit for alcohol. The letter calls on MPs to look at the evidence for what works best on reducing alcohol harm and to ensure that England is not left behind in the quest to improve public health outcomes.
